In order to become successful in any endeavor, it is important for someone to possess the right characteristics. Not everyone is going to be a successful entrepreneur, but what are some characteristics which may be useful for someone who wants to be an entrepreneur?
Perhaps the first thing that needs to be done is to define an entrepreneur. An entrepreneur is, according to definition, someone who organizes and manages a business venture with a high degree of initiative and risk associated with its operation. Certain traits are going to characterize an entrepreneur, and below are a few which I believe are very important to point out.
1. Intelligent and creative - During the course of the average business day, a certain number of problems will arise which the entrepreneur is going to have to overcome with creative and intelligent solutions.
2. Decisive - With all of the information that gets thrown at everyone everyday, it is easy to suffer from the “paralysis of analysis” syndrome. However, an entrepreneur cannot allow that to happen. He/she must always be able to sift through the information and make a quick decision.
3. Honest - Obviously, not all entrepreneurs are honest; however, I believe that it is important to want to honestly serve the company’s customers, and to do the very best job possible to fulfill their expectations.
4. Risk taker - Most people play it safe and stay with their jobs because of the predictability of it. An entrepreneur needs to be able to operate with a certain level of risk if he / she is going to be successful.
5. Passion and determination - If someone is to become successful, he/she has to have the determination to get past any obstacle which may be encountered. An entrepreneur thinks 24/7 about how he/she is going to be successful, not whether he/she is going to be successful.
Above is only a few of the many characteristics which the average entrepreneur possesses. I believe that they are a few of the most important though. If someone possesses only the above, then I think that he/she has an excellent chance of becoming a successful entrepreneur.
